Well the first day of school went off with out a hitch over here. My son loves his new teacher. Which is a good thing! She is very seasoned, so hopefully she can keep him in line. You see he has a pretty extreme case of ADHD and can be extremely hyperactive. Sometimes he acts as if he is on drugs...yes, it's that bad! If he was not 7 I would have probably subjected him to a drug test! Anyway, he can be a little hard to manage at times. Fingers crossed this teacher does not call in tears weekly like his kindergarten teacher did. Which reminds me, God bless those of you out there in blogger world who are teachers! What a thankless and sometimes very difficult job you do. Thank you thank you thank you!
Today I have a bag that I have not seen on any other cartridge. It is just perfect for Valentine's Day, wrapping for a birthday gift card, or packaging for jewelry. I could see even using this as party favors for a little girl's birthday party!
When I was looking at the image in the CTMH ART PHILOSOPHY handbook I was not sure how well it was going to cut out and come together. I was pleasantly surprised when I assembled it because there were no problems to be found. Easy as pie!
All supplies that were used except for the adhesive are from Close To My Heart. |
The paper line is called Sophia. I used the reverse side of the word art sheet. The cardstock that I used are Hollyhock, Blush, and white. |
I cut this out using the 'fit to page' feature which came out to be about 10 1/2". |
I scored the bag using my score pal. |
Then I cut out this heart using the ART PHILOSOPHY cartridge at 5". |
I felt like the heart needed a little more, so I added some pen work using my White Signo Uniball. |
Then I adhered the heart to the bag. |
Then added Terrifically Tacky Tape to the flap. |
I wanted to add a handle, so I punched a hole on both sides using a small hole punch. Then I used brads to affix the ribbon to the bag. |
I used the ribbon (Pink Designer Ribbon) on the bottom of the paddle. |
I wanted to put a little something else on the front of the bag, so I pulled out the coordinating chipboard. |
I cut the pieces at 1 1/2". Then assembled them. |
I stamped the sentiment using Hollyhock and |
Blush ink. |
The sentiment and heart shape are from the Pair a Phrase stamp set that you can earn for FREE. See below for details. |
I felt like it needed some bling, so I added these sparkles. |
Then I adhered it to the bag! |
Now if you are interested in this fantastic cartridge and/or the current Close To My Heart promotions you have come to the right place!

THAT is ADORABLE!!! LOVE the rose ribbon!
This is so cute. Reminds me of something Martha Stewart would create. It seems that you could write your blog just about Art Philosophy forever. SO MANY adorable projects!

Your bag is beautiful! I love this cartridge! I also want to thank you for giving teacher kudos...there is so much teacher bashing (generalizing) at times, it makes us feel good when positive comments are made!

Very very cute little gift bag
Blessings to you as you raise your son. As a teacher I am well aware of the difficulties involved. Listen to the teacher an experts along with a huge dose of mother's intuition and love. You can do it!

Fantastic bag, I saw this on the cart and was anxious to make it - I'm thinking maybe to fill it with Valentine's day treats for my boys!
Love the bag. I, too, have a son with ADHD (7 yrs old) and appreciate his wonderful teachers. I know what you mean about being hyper. When I see projects like these I immediately think "teacher gift!!". I love being able to something for the teachers who are under paid, often under appreciated and super special to me!
Very cute girlie bag! I just got my email that my Art Philosophy cartridge package is on its way...yeah!!!
Awesome project!! Love those gorgeous papers!!
Carol

Oh yes....Such wonderful things could be put into a bag like this. Mmmmm....Maybe some diamond earings, a beautiful ring or perhaps a lovely bracelet. Oh heck! I'll take any of the above in this adorable bag!

Love this cute heart shaped bag! So adorable! You did a great job! Thanks so much for sharing! lindagk23
it is a beauty! I would love to have that bag and that cartridge!
Your bag is so lovely!!!
I am very thankful for teachers also. I have a son with a form of autism and I make sure that all the support staff at school as well as every specials teacher he has gets a little something at Christmas and the end of the year so they know I appreciate all they do for him. We also, of course, do something for his main teacher. Bags like this one would be a nice gift, but maybe not for the 20-some people I thank...
Melanie,
Cute project. I am so impressed with CTMH papers. Just fabulous designs and colors. May have to order some.
Marcie

Thanks for your kind words about teachers. It gets hard sometimes knowing the extent of the demands (and it's growing) on us. Anyway . . . love the bag. I could use this one for Valentines Day for my students. :)
By the way, have you ever really paid attention to the verification words? Sometimes they can be a hoot! urorpo
Gorgeous bag, & paper. I think this bag would be great with boy paper, & ribbon too. TFS
Most Teachers are awesome, underpaid, have 30 or more students(angels/brats), & need the support of parents!!!
I am really glad your son likes his new teacher, that is sometimes half the battle when dealing with children like your son. If teacher and child make a bond they can generally work together to find that common ground which they both understand and respect. That way he will not feel threatened when ask to do something or otherwise reprimanded. Good luck for this school year. Oh and by the way I was a Special Needs Teacher before my accident lol.
Love the bag, it is beautiful and that ribbon/lace you used for the handle is gorgeous.
