Christmas giveaway day 2

Hello, friends!

I loved reading yesterday's comments about your favorite holiday traditions. What is it about the holidays that just make the ordinary so extraordinary? For example, one of my favorite traditions is a yummy breakfast casserole that my mom makes every Christmas morning. She only makes it on Christmas because it would just be breakfast otherwise. However, since she only makes this casserole once a year it is deliciously special! I will have to post that recipe sometime.

Today's giveaway is a Snow Day cartridge.

To win:

1) Leave a comment below telling me of your favorite Holiday dishes.
2) Subscribe or follow the blog.

That's it!  Winner to be announced on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

Now it is time to check out  Joy's blog because she is also having a week of giveaways! Click here ==> Obsessed with Scrapbooking

I just love traditions. it connects families from one generation to the next. One we do is we open one gift at Christmas eve dinner. then we tell the children to go to bed so Santa will come. My grand children are still young and they run to bed.
Once they are asleep then the adults exchange gifts. Then Christmas morning is all for the kids. Then we eat a good brunch or a early dinner as my son he has to work. The Children play the rest of the day.

My favorite Christmas dish is pumpkin dump cake. You mix your pumpkin like you would for a pie then pour it into a greased 9x13 pan. Spread a dry yellow cake mix across the top, sprinkle w/ pecans then pour 1 1/2 sticks of melted butter (the real thing!) over the top. Bake at 350 for 40-50 mins. You may have to cover it w/ foil toward the end to keep it from getting too brown. It's wonderful & my mouth is watering thinking about it! Thanks for all the great giveaways & Merry Christmas!!

Well, like you, its something ordinary but because its only once a year, its extra special. Meatballs. LOL! And yes, we have meatballs throughout the year but not homemade in a specific barbeque sauce. We only do them that way for Christmas and I look forward to it. We could do it any time we wanted but then they wouldn't be as special or as good! :) Oh and my husband likes to make prime rib on Christmas day. Again, something we could do almost any time we wanted but we tend to reserve it for Christmas!

One of my favorite holiday traditions/dishes is making crepes on Christmas morning!! They're really more like a dessert but we put a cream cheese filling in it that usually has a slight lemon taste from the zest, then we have an array of fruit to put inside it like strawberries, pineapple, mango (frozen in winter which isn't as yummy as fresh mango!), peaches, and an assortment of other berries. I swear the kids get just as excited for this breakfast as they do for the presents they get! It totally makes it worth the time to prepare the meal and makes my day that much better!!

For Christmas I love to bake special cookies! I bake tons: chocolate crackle, chocolate-peppermint, oatmeal craisin with white chocolate chips, and a chocolate sandwich cookie. Plus some other favorites. Thank!

I love the Honey Baked Ham we get every year. Who can afford one very often?? It's made special to have it just once a year and we have to drive 60 miles one way to get it!

This is hard to decide..I LOVE the meal we usually fix overall- standing rib roast with horseradish sauce, twice baked potatoes, roasted vegetables, salad with pomegranates and pears, and a chocolate raspberry desert I love to make.
