Today I have another football themed gift bag that I made for my son's varsity football mentor. It is made using the Total Sports cartridge.
He has not said that he is liking or appreciating the bags, so I am worried they are too girly. What do you guys think?

I love your gift bag! I'm thinking that the recipient does, too, but he's "too cool" to say so! Thank you Melanie. BethAnn M.
I like the bag, but for a boy, I definitely would skip the blue grosgrain ribbon. The shoelace tie is enough, imho. And unfortunately, not all children are taught to say "please" and "thank you", but I can't believe he wouldn't appreciate the extra thought and your son's kindness. Hopefully he'll come around. Maybe your son should have more input in re: to the little gifts you make for his mentor.
Like the sports bag. I agree with Ann that the shoelace tie is enough so the blue grosgrain ribbon could be left off. Unfortunately most of the time the recipient is only interested in what is inside the bag. I'm one of interested in presentation so the bag means something to me all the time.

Very cool bag, Melanie. I'm sure your son appreciates your work. I agree with BethAnn and Sunshine with the bow, but have to add that boys seem to be not too keen on glitter either. But I'm with you on the glitter, not many of my cards do not have it.
You are awesome, Melanie!
Love your bag, and no it is not girly! I'm sure it is very much appreciated, but guys are funny about that stuff. Don't worry, be Happy!
Nice bag! Thanks for sharing your time, talents, and imagination with us.
Love the gift bag once again you came up with a brilliant gift bag idea...I love it and I'm very positive his mentor does too...some people just find it hard to say Thank You but just remember that it's the good feeling you got from making it and then the good feeling your son got from you making it and feeling proud to give it.
YOU so ROCK!!
I love the bag! It's not too girly either. I think guys do not think about all the work we put into it. Also, maybe if it was a card he would keep it, with the bag he may think it's a bag that will get thrown away?? Just a thought. I have been making cards for my sons coaches and I keep them simple with a soccer ball border and Coach in big letters with a whistle using the teams colors. I love your work Melanie!
I think your bag is adorable. A team mom or a girl cheerleader would really appreciate it (or a guy whose mom is a crafter). What an awesome mom you are! As a mom who lived in the sports world for many years, I'm afraid most guys would find it too girly, though. Bows and glitter are probably too much for a teen boy.
I think he's a boy.. Sorry, that's just how the growny version of them are. Your son is too little yet, but your close to finding out all about the cool factor and how much it interferes with their expression of joy, excitement, etc. NO hugs in public, no yelps of excitement, no gushing anything.. especially "sports" boys.. 3 of them, and even the 1 I thought was the most sensitive heart of the bunch, yup, the "cool" bug has bitten him too. You do what makes you happy and feels right for you, don't worry about his response. I promise he is having 1, you just won't see it on the field, in front of anyone, and possibly not even in private. The bag is cute, but no glitter or too many ribbons tied in bows is probably a better bet. Also, if these are being given to him at the practice field with other players around, I promise you he is taking crap about them because the other guys are ribbing him and secretly jealous--so you go girl--anything we can do to push our boys towards good emotions of gratitude, happiness, etc is a good thing thekimmiefiles at gmail.com
Great bag. If you had fun making it I wouldn't worry about it.
I love that glitter paper and the saying is so inspirational.

I like the idea that you used sports as your theme for the bag. I'll have to try it for our local hockey team. Thanks for the inspiration!
I really like this bag. I don't think it's too girly but maybe leave off the ribbon.

Your son is lucky to have such a creative Mom! Thanks for the chance to win the Anna Griffin Sophisticated Soirees Cartridge! Blessings!
I just found your blog and love it. You care so creative.
This will be the perfect card for my brother-in-law! He is such a football fan that his grandkids call him:"TouchDown" instead of grandpa or papa...Thanks for the great idea!
Love the bag!! I happen to have a little guy who is almost 12 and he does appreciate the packaging and cards. Perhaps he just sees how much effort we put into presentation for friends. He would flip over your bag!
Very cool card! I love it.
Definitely manly. Love it.
I always love your card
