My favorite Christmas Tradition is going to our daughters house and because she hates making cut-out cookies I do it for her and then our daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids and my hubby decorate them. Our dog and grandpuppy are never far away as they are hoping one falls off the table. I truely enjoy following your blog. You give us all so many awesome incentive.

I just love give-a-ways even if I dont get picked... LOL!
Our favorite holiday tradition is baking and decorating cookies for Santa and our getting ready for Santa scavenger hunt... My 5 yr old loves finding little things that help him get to bed like pjs' toothbrush, a book, a movie. We started it when he was two. My niece who is 4 also joined in the fun when she turned two. We have a blast. They know that when they find the movie that the next one is the book. They watch the movie then their books are read and lights go off to allow Santa plenty of time to come....
Thanks for the opportunity!

We have so many traditions with some starting in October when everyone that is present must stir the Christmas pudding for luck before it is put into a cloth and boiled to Boxing day spent at the beach to recover from Christmas day. It is summer here in Australia.

When my children were little we would set the table in the living room near the Christmas tree and have a "fancy" dinner by candlelight. They are all grown with families of their own now.

My personal tradition is hanging ornaments on my tree that belonged to my mother and grandmother. One is a santa that was on my mom and dads first tree. Others are from the 2nd w.war era when there was no metal to be had and the tops of the ornaments are made of paper. I also still hang one by one the old icicles-yes they have lead in them but at least they don't cling to everything :) and to top it off or I should say bottom--an old village made of cardboard always goes under the tree along with the old bottle brush trees. My nativity is my mothers and is also from the 30's 40's era. It is all made from the old paper mache. Prices still on the bottoms ---15 to 29 cents.

My favorite tradition is on Christmas Eve. We bake sugar cookies and decorate them. We try to have some for Santa but sometimes that is hard to do. We then read The Night Before Christmas and finish with the Christmas story from the Bible. It is so awesome to watch my children as they create these traditions with their children.

My favorite tradition is kind of a new one.... I just met my adopted Sister and her family last year and we had our first Christmas together. I make a large dinner with all the fixins and our family all enjoy the food and lots of remembering the year. Also, I purchase an ornament each year for my children since they were born and I look forward to opening up the big box and going though them to decorate the tree. This year we get to add 2 more ornaments becasue both of my children were married this year. So, I guess you could say FAMILY is MY FAVORITE TRADITION!

One of my fondest memories and traditions was when we went to bed on Christmas Eve, of course not before sneaking into my parents' bedroom and setting their clock ahead so we could get up just that much earlier Christmas mornIng (hee hee), and once we were snuggled into bed, we'd place our stockIngs at the foot of our beds. Because the English tradition is this, once asleep Father Christmas (better known as mommy) would fill our stockings with all sorts of goodies; and always mandarins oranges and Lindt chocolate. Then we'd try really hard to fall asleep but it was impossible. With our eyes shut tight while faking asleep, we'd hear Father Christmas slip into our room and take our stockings then return shortly. I could feel the weight of the stockings once returned and the crinkling son's of an over stuffed stocking. I would carefully reach down and feel the fullness of the stocking all the while being very careful not to alert Father Christmas that I was peaking. Oh the excitement the anticipation of openning the stocking was draining which soon led to slumber. But not for long. I'd wake hourly checking the clock "Is it time yet?!" and when the clock reached 4:30 which on my parent's altered click as 5:30 then we were aloud to get up. And so we did bursting into our parents bedroom with stockings n hand- "WAKE UP WAKE UP CONE ON SANTA CAME!"- Nothing like it; nothing better!

All of our family always got together on Christmas eve for dinner and gifts. That was my favorite time!

CyndiU said...

One of our family traditions started about 25 yrs ago. My sons and I were new to Philadelphia and I was entering the world of single mom's. A friend sent the boys $20. They decided to go out for Christmas Eve dinner and have pizza. Long story short, the place we found was having an employee party and invited us to join them and we had a great and memorable time for the $20 (the boys ate more than $20 of pizzas and drinks. Since that Christmas Eve, we've continued with pizza on Christmas Eve. My youngest son, now 35, has changed it up a bit and his family makes pizzas at home. This year my oldest is flying me out to California and I'm looking forward to continuing with the pizza tradition.

Thanks again for the chance at awesome blog candy.

My favorite Christmas tradition is actually at my work. I work with the elderly and every year we have a big Christmas party with all our clients. Presents that have been donated by the community are handed out by Santa and we have special snacks and treats. I love watching the joy in their eyes when they open their presents. It's like watching kids open their presents! It's very rewarding since many of our clients are not used to receiving gifts like that anymore.

I love checking my email every morning and seeing what you've come up with! This cartridge is definitely on my wish list this year! I love all the designs on it! Thanks for your giveaways and your time! It is greatly appreciated! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Favorite Holiday Tradition: One of them, we just started a few years ago when our family started expanding. We now have Christmas day at our house with just our 4 children, their spouses and our 7 young grandbabies. Instead of running here and there we have everyone over stating with brunch. While waiting for everyone to arrive, everyone eats as they get here, then once everyone has eaten its on tho the gist opening! I hope we can carry this on and make it a long time tradition.

We did this every year until Grandma passed away. My mom and I have continued the tradition. And now, I am finally a grandma myself. This is little Em's first Christmas. In a few years, I'll begin to pass this tradition on to her!

Melanie, thanks so much for the give-away, but thanks, too for the opportunity to share my story! I see a new scrapbook layout coming! :)

Happy Holidays!

wow, so many traditions which do I share. One of my favorites is setting our the Nativity scene that is a tradition. I put it out before putting up the tree. What would Christmas be if not for the birth of Jesus. My daughter in law knew I collected Boyds Bears so she purchased a Boyds Bear nativity set for me a few years ago. With 27 grandchildren this one is perfect. It is made from stuffed bears that can be handled many times over year after year and not damage it. That is just one of my traditions. I enjoyed reading all the other comments and making memories is great.

I love going home for the holidays and spending time with my family. We live 12 hours from my parents and siblings. I love listening to my dad's deep voice as he reads the Christmas story from the Bible. We then open our gifts to each other. I can't wait to get there! Thanks for a chance to win a great cartridge. :D

My favorite is Breakfast with Santa. We have gone to the same one since my kids were small, and now take the kids and the grandchildren. So much fun! I also love Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, which we go to as a family. And I love this Sweater Weather cartridge! Thanks for the chance to win it!

My favorite Christmas tradition is doing absolutely nothing! We have a wonderful big breakfast, open our gifts very, very slowly in front of the fire and watch our favorite holiday movies ALL DAY LONG!!! I love not having the stress of having to go somewhere. Makes the holidays more joyous, restful and memorable. And of course we can't forgot our traditional read of the True Christmas Story when our savior Jesus Christ was born.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

I love sweater weather. It reminds me so much of the Nordic traditional inmages. My family does a traditinal smoked cod, fried scallops and eggs ala goldenrod on toast. Then one of our daughter makes donuts that are better than Krispy Kremes. We all open presents and have fun being together. Carjo in southern Utah

Our favorite tradition is having my oldest daughter put the Angel on top of the tree after we decorate it. She always gets on her dad's shoulders to do that, but I think this might be the last year:). They had a little trouble. She is 13 and about 5'4. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

This is going to sound rather lame, but it really is just getting together with family. My sister comes down with her husband and three kids, my Gma comes, my aunts come and we all meet in Austin. This doesn't happen every year, but it is happening this year!!!

A tradition we started since moving to Florida is to go to the beach on Christams day. If we have company, they are from the northern states and usually have left cold and snow behind, so for them it is a very nice day.

One tradition we have is always to have pizza for dinner on Christmas eve, which works well because it is quick and easy on a busy day!

There is always fun gifts in stocking like funky socks, cool ink pens, etc. I even sneak over to the nursing home my mother is in and make sure she wakes up to a full stocking!

I love this cartridge. I'm hoping Santa brings it to me.

Our tradition is to put up our tree as a family. Even though my kids are 27 and 25, they still come home to help put up the tree along with my son-in-law and granddaughter. I hope this doesn't change for quite a while.

Hi Melanie!
My favorite family tradition during the holidays is decorating our Christmas tree. Every Christmas since my two boys were born, (they're now 15 & 13) we'd find an ornament which represented something significant that happened that year. We would make sure that it was dated with the year...very important :) As we decorate our tree, we tell the stories behind each ornament from the past years. I love how our tree is filled with many wonderful memories of our family.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

What a great giveaway! This isn't my favorite tradition but one that I just shared with my daughter's this year. When I was growing up we always had a few metal tins of holiday popcorn under the tree and got it to eat it all month long. They love it so far!

We've never really had any holiday traditions in my family, but my in-laws started one a couple years ago. When you arrive at their house, they give you a brand new pair of PJ's to put on. That way you are comfortable all day and the PJ's are yours to keep.

We really don't have many traditions in my family but, one that we just recently started doing was everyone gathers at my Nanny's house on Christmas Eve for dinner.... and one of the older guys at the house calls my sisters cellphone and they talk to my nephew like they are Santa.... shortly after that...he's ready for bed!!!
