Forever Young thank you card

Hello, everyone!

This is the card that I demo'ed at CHA. As fun as it was doing the demo with Joy on the stage, I do not think my future is in stage demonstrations. I was so nervous before I did the demo. As a small girl I thought I would love to be a stage performer, but now I realize that life on the stage is not for me! Like I keep telling Joy...I just like making pretty things!

I made this VERY easy card using Forever Young. I think the flowers on this cartridge are REALLY cute. They are so fun and versatile!

If anyone has any really good tips on house training a 10 week old puppy let me know. We are trying to crate train her and it is going ok so far, but we are not there 100%....who am I am kidding we are not even close! I can't get irritated with her though because she is so cute! I will have to post a picture of her soon.

One last thing, if you have not already checked out Scrapguy's blog...you really should! He has fantastic give-aways and even better projects and videos. I met him at the super show and absolutely adore him! He is one of the funniest people I have ever met!

Have a great day!!

Love the card you made!

On the puppy training, its a bit icky and yukkie, but when the dog has an accident in the house, put his nose in it. I know, its sad and stuff, but it worked on all my four dogs. Housetrained within a week :)

Sweet card Melanie!! I really want this cart, especially if it is a bit flower heavy, because of all the beautiful flowers that everyone is making nowadays. I love em, and getting a bit flower crazy!! Hehehe.

I wish I had some good advice on your puppy training, but when we adopted our airdale he was already grown, and an outside dog. Dang..*sniff* he was a sweetheart.

I also want to thank ya'll for introducing us to Bryan, he is so talented and has such neat tutorials!!!!

Take care, and puppy hugs :)

The card is very pretty, I love the flower! I agree with yvette, put his nose in it, but you have to do that when the accident happens and you see it happen, not when you find it some time later. They don't have any idea what they did 30 minutes ago. After putting it's nose in it take it outside. Also when the puppy is done with it's meal emediately take it outside, when it wakes up take it outside. Be consistent. The older they get the longer they can hold it. Consistency and pacience will do the job!! I hope this helps.

Really adorable card. Just my style!

As for the puppy thing...I do work for a dog rescue. We rescue dogs from puppy mills. I have several tricks for potty training, as no dog in a puppy mill is potty trained. If you would like some info, email me at kmharmon3@q.com

Love the card!! As for the puppy training I've always found bribery to work. When they go outside give them lots of praise and a treat. sometimes it works too well though. Our last dog would go outside even when she didn't have to. She would squat pretend to pee and then come looking for her 'cookie'. Good luck!

I have been to ScrapyGuys and it IS a great blog.

The card is so sweet. It would be a good one
to start my friend on!

Regarding puppy crate training.
The main thing about it is. ....
The puppy is IN the crate unless he is OUTSIDE
(take him outside right after you take him out
of the crate ALWAYS, EVERY TIME!)
, EATING or
you are right there WITH HIM PLAYING. Then
back in the crate. He will learn to love it! Really!

I am so gla that you showed this card. In the cha videos it was difficult to see the projects. I love the lace being added on this.

About the puppy, the main thing is to keep the puppy with you at all times. Every half hour or so take the puppy outside and tell it to go potty and if it does, praise it like crazy. If it doesn't, try again in 15 minutes. Consistenly doing this really helps. Also, don't give a lot of water for a few hours before bedtime. If you see the puppy start to squat, grab him and run outside and let him finish outside, then praise him for going outside, and don't yell about the mess inside, he's a baby and hasn't made the connection yet. HTH, our puppies have all been trained within a week.

THE BEST THING THAT WORKED FOR MY DOGS WAS HANGING A BELLING FROM A RIBBON ON MY DOOR KNOB..everytime you take her out, take her paw and hit the bell. and do not take her outside to play until she is potty trained...the reason for that is, she will not learn that outside is for potty,...so take her outside to do her business after hitting the bell of course...and bring back in as soon as she potty..otherwise she does not learn why you are taking her outside....

the bell make sure it does not have little slits in it, so her nails will not be caught. i used the bell shaped bells on my door..this worked the best of anything i ever tried....she will then go rings thoses bells when she wants outside...that helps too if you are not within door site to know she wants outside...

also, my vet says a puppy can not learn to hold their urine, etc...until they are at least 12 weeks old, so she is a little young at the moment to control the urge to go...she can not hold it...you should be taking her outside within 10 of eating and drinking. and go outside around every 2 hours while she is awake, and as soon as she wakes up, take her out right then...babies potty as soon as they wake up....

so right now try not to get upset with her, she is too young to hold her potty and can not control her pee or pooo...at 12 weeks she will start learning to control and hold it a little longer,,,and by 5months she should be able to hold it for a little longer....as she gets older her control will become longer and longer....so please be patient and let her ring the bells on a door and always always take her out the same door each time...and try to take her to the same place in the yard to potty each time....these tips work...my vet gave me these tips when i got a puppy 3 yrs ago....good luck

and i love your blog and projects..

Puppy training - when she gets sleepy, put her in her crate to sleep. Then when she wakes up IMMEDIATELY take her outside to go potty. Then make a HUGE DEAL out of it with "good girl"s and "WOOHOO" and "YAY" and lots of happy faces. You can also give a treat when you come back in. If you walk her with a leash, attach this to the doorknob (loop it over) you are going to let her out of - and ALWAYS take her out the same door. She will even start to nudge the leash attached to the doorknob.

If she goes, don't rub her nose in it, that can backfire TERRIBLY with some dogs. Tell her NO NO NO and take her outside IMMEDIATELY.

Make sure you are using an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle to clean up any accidents so she won't go back to that smell and go again.

We have a deaf dog and she was potty trained in about two weeks and I rewarded her with happy smiles and thumbs up and lots of lovin'.

Leave her crate door open, even when she isn't in it, and make her crate a happy place. You will find her going in on her own to sleep.

That is all I can think of for now. We've house trained three furrie children - so if I can help let me know! ;o)
