  1. Sounds like a great weekend! Enjoy your holiday. The kids in our area go until the 23rd. Good for busy mommies...tough on teachers and bus drivers!

My favourite tradition is the weekend before Christmas when my brothers and their families and my family all get together for a big potluck meal, usually the last Sunday before. It really starts Christmas off for me.

Thanks for sharing your toys! :)

One of my favorite traditions is after we decorate the Christmas Tree early in the season we have hot chocolate and talk about our hopes for the holiday season, parties we may have planned, what we want for Christmas, who is on our list for Christmas and we also talk about memorable Christmas moments from the past.

  7. My favorite tradition is each year I do some special one-on-one time with each daughter. With the oldest daughter we always made Christmas fudge together. Now that she is 26 and lives in far away Chicago that tradition is done and gone. My next daughter and I now make Christmas cookies together. She will be turning 16 next year so I only have a few more seasons to share our one-on-one. Treasure those times.

  16. Favorite holiday traditions. Well, my favorite is when we all sit down together, EVERY evening the month of December, on the couch and read some sort of Christmas story and then sing carols together. We all gather at my parents home on the Saturday before Christmas...this year there will be over 54 people. We have a huge potluck and Santa drops by for a visit with the children (those under 18 get a gift from Santa), then those over 18 have a White Elephant give exchange...This has been a fun way to gather, share a meal, and celebrate the holiday. Thanks for letting me share a family tradition with you. Much love and happiness through the holidays and a prosperous New Year!

  115. My favorite holiday tradition was making christmas cookies with the kids. As they grew older - they helped and we made even more and gave to the single soldiers in the barracks. Now that they are grown and left home and we are no longer near a military post, we celebrate by watching a christmas movie with the childs family we are with and opening only 1 present on Christmas eve.

  141. Enjoy your "slow down" time! My favorite tradition started 8yrs ago. My family and I cook and deliver hot Christmas meals to the elderly, disabled and in need on Christmas day. We also deliver gifts to the families that are in need. This tradition started because an elderly woman came into the local deli looking for a hot meal. She was told "we do not serve hot meals on the holidays". From that moment on we started to form a plan on how to feed people and 8yrs later we have grown to 250+ meals and 80+ children to buy gifts for. It truly is a blessing to be able to do this for those in need.

  143. We decided to do a Christmas Pickle this year. It is a German tradition. You hide the pickle on Christmas eve and the first child to find it in the morning gets an extra treat. They also said they get an extra blessing, but I can't pray to bless one kid over the other. We cut our pickle out of a green foam sheet using the Cricut and the Bags, Tags, Boxes and more cartridge that came loaded in the Gypsy. It was a tag that was oval but skinnier on one end. Then gave it spots with stickles.

My very favorite Christmas tradition with my family is going to our local Chinese restaurant on the 23rd of December. We have been going to the Chinese Restaurant since I was born, approximately 26 years and counting:) There have been very few years where we have not gone. The staff is like family and they always request that my parents sing a Christmas song before they leave. Now I am married and have incorporated my husband into the tradition and hope to one day pass it down to my children. I know, it sounds like the "Christmas Story" movie, but it's something we have always always done. This is my very favorite Christmas Tradition. Thanks for the chance to win:)

  168. My favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree with my daughters. When it is time for the ornaments, I take each one out of the boxes and usually have a special story to go with it. I am sure they have heard the stories about ornaments my grandma made or the ones they made way back in pre-k a dozen times, but they still listen and smile with each story. It may take us a little longer to decorate the tree, but there are no plain ball ornaments... every single thing hanging on the tree has a special meaning. Finally, my husband and my youngest daughter put on the angel topper. In a few short years, she'll be tall enough that she won't need him to lift her to reach the top of the tree, but I am hoping they still keep the tradition of doing it together.

Our traditions are centered on family mostly--what we eat, games to play, the way we open gifts together (one at a time in order to enjoy each one!). On Christmas night we would go from house to house to see each other's gifts. It was always a lot of fun!

  195. We have a tradition that started the first year we were married and this is our17th Christmas to do it. Every year we pick out an ornament as a couple that is symbolic of something specific that has happened that year, we sharpie a date on it if it is not engraved and we put it on our tree. When our children were born we started adding one each year for each of them and of course our animal babies get one too. It is so much fun to open the box of these when decorating and go through and remember what each one stood for. The kids love it and it brings back so many wonderful memories. We now have enough for a completely separate tree of just these ornaments. We call it our "family" tree. When Our children get older and have families of their own they can choose to take their ornaments and continue the tradition on their own trees or leave it at our house to continue until we no longer can.

I spend a whole day baking all the Christmas cookies and goodies and whoever is available comes to help decorate. We have Christmas music playing and it is always a fun day.

    Happy holidays to all!
